Mohinder stared at the monitor, fingers white knuckled on the bench.
“Thompson... oh gods.”
Molly looked up at Mohinder from the doorway. “Mohinder? Is everything okay?”
“No. No, it’s not.” He grabbed the gun out of the drawer and started pushing Molly towards her sleeping area. “You need to stay in here, Molly, okay? No matter what, you stay in here and stay down low.”
She nodded, eyes wide with fear. “What’s happening, Mohinder?”
“Some bad men are coming. I’m going to stop them, all right? They won’t hurt you. I’m not going to let them hurt you. Not ever.” He knelt down and kissed her forehead. “Stay here. And don’t call for me, I will come and save you, but they can’t know I’m here.”
“Okay.” She clung to his hand. “I’ll be quiet.”
“I know you will.” He can hear them from the monitor. “I’ll protect you. I promise.”
He stepped away and drew the curtains across before stepping to the side and into one of the storage cabinets.
He’s squeezed the trigger before, and for a lot less.
No one is going to hurt Molly.
No one.
